  • Kollmorgen will exhibit its motion solutions for food and beverage manufacturers in booth B8016 of the International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE), Jan. 26 - 28, 2016, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. Throughout the show, Kollmorgen will demonstrate its AKMH Hygienic Servo Motor and enhancements, including the vented connector option, which allows the motor to equalize pressure through the connector assembly.

  • I.D. Systems Inc., a provider of wireless solutions for the Industrial Internet of Things, has received an order through its strategic channel partner, Southeast Industrial Equipment Inc. (SIE), to supply its PowerFleet wireless industrial Vehicle Management System (VMS).

    SIE will deploy 175 units of I.D. Systems' next-generation VMS, VAC4, at a multi-building distribution facility in Mexico for a global provider of household appliances. I.D. Systems will remotely host the system and provide service and support over a three-year period. The installation will mark the second deployment of I.D. Systems' PowerFleet solution for the end customer.

  • QuestaWeb Inc. a provider of web-based, integrated global trade management (GTM) solutions, has opened two satellite offices, one in St. Louis and the other in Mobile, Ala. The expansion reflects the need to support a growing customer base, many of which are situated in Midwestern and Southeastern locations across the United States.

    The St. Louis operation is headed by Eric Dalby, while Brooke Helton manages the Mobile locale.

  • Innovel Solutions, a subsidiary of Sears, Roebuck & Co., has selected Storage Solutions Inc. to provide reduction management services to its former retail distribution center facilities in Forest Park, Ga.; Groveport, Ohio; and Sparks, Nev. Storage Solutions will be liquidating all identified material handling equipment, pick modules, and inventory racking at each facility. This project will be completed in phases by May of 2016.

  • Forte, a Swisslog company, has added Senior Consultant Patrick Murray to its expanding team. Murray is responsible for producing sensible solutions for FORTE customers at every stage of their material handling operations.

    Murray leverages more than 18 years of industry experience in his role at Forte. Previously, he directed manufacturing and distribution strategies for clients such as Turtle Wax, GE Energy Rentals, GE Industrial Systems, Life Fitness, Parrot USA, Wellements LLC, Volta River Authority, and the Electricity Supply Board (ESB) - Europe.     Roberts brings more than 35 years of supply chain management design experience to his new role, having served clients such as General Dynamics Corporation, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Honeywell, HP, United Natural Foods Inc., United Technologies Corporation, Verizon Communications and Williams-Sonoma. Roberts' experience and knowledge of automation solutions include high-speed sortation and conveyor networks, automated storage/retrieval systems, integrated software and controls requirements, and directed picking.   • Forte, a Swisslog company,has added Jim McNerney as a principal sales executive to its leading warehouse automation and warehouse execution software sales team.

    McNerney draws on his 28-plus years of experience in supply chain management, enterprise legacy and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Most recently, he was the principal and co-founder of New Course LLC, a systems integration firm primarily focused on helping companies effectively deploy warehouse management solutions. He was also the principal and co-founder of ESYNC, a supply chain consulting and systems integration company that won numerous industry awards.

  • Redwood Logistics, a logistics provider, has partnered with Walgreens, a Redwood Multimodal customer, to organize a drive to collect and donate kits containing personal essentials to the Lincoln Park Community Shelter (LPCS). The LPCS works to help out the homeless around Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood.

  • Hermes, a provider of end-to-end e-commerce services for fashion and lifestyle brands, is expanding its delivery resources to meet the significant increase in parcel volumes across Europe during the holiday season. Expansions include increased staff and vehicle numbers and Saturday deliveries in certain countries. U.S. retailers targeting European markets this season can leverage BorderGuru, Hermes' cross-border e-commerce solution for retailers that makes it as easy to sell and ship products internationally as domestically. To ensure delivery by Christmas Eve, BorderGuru's U.S. cutoff times are Dec. 17 for deliveries to Europe, Australia, and Canada, and Dec. 16 for deliveries to the rest of the world.

  • DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight specialist of Deutsche Post DHL Group, conducted the third training module of its Corporate Automotive Logistics Academy 4.0 (CALA 4.0) in Detroit, Michigan on Dec. 3, 2015. This was the first time the program was held in the United States, but the second time it was held in the Americas.The modular training program CALA 4.0 is a platform for knowledge transfer and management developed in close cooperation with BVL Campus, the educational branch of the global supply chain experts of BVL International.

    During the previous CALA 4.0 event held in Sao Paulo, 40 attendees were present who shared key learnings and best practices. Another CALA 4.0 module took place last week in Pune, India, and the next training module will be conducted in Germany in the first half of 2016.

  • Choptank Transport, a third-party logistics company, has started construction on a new 11,000 square-foot expansion of its headquarters in Preston, Md., which will allow them to hire an additional 130 people in the next two years. This is its third expansion at this location within the last decade. The new space will mirror the existing facility, with large open spaces to preserve the collaborative environment that is part of the company culture.

    In addition to the construction, Choptank has acquired 4,000 square feet of additional office space by purchasing another pre-existing building on Main Street in Preston within a few miles of the main offices.
