Murata Machinery, a Charlotte, N.C.-based provider of integrated Muratec-brand automated storage and retrieval systems, took to the show floor at ProMat in Chicago this week to preview its FX-Quad S crane.
As the successor to Murata's successful FX-Quad, the new version of this miniload automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) can fit in tighter spaces thanks to a design that shrinks the front of the unit's twin masts, said Terry Shaw, the company's operations manager.
When it launches in the U.S. this November, the FX-Quad S will provide both person-to-goods and goods-to-person services, with variable width and height adjustments for retrieving totes from rack storage.
Matched with the company's high-speed Uni-Shuttle HP sequencer/storer and controlled by Murata's X500 warehouse management system, the combined machinery is designed to beat competing arrangements both in speed and accuracy.
