Numina Group, which provides software, controls, and design and implementation for automated warehouses and distribution centers, has released RDS Web2, a new Web-based user interface for it RDS warehouse execution system (WES)-warehouse control system (WCS). The new version is as responsive as desktop versions and features software that is based on open-source tools, rather than the previous Java-based interface, Numina said. The main tools are from Google, so the software can run on almost any device, including smartphones, tablets, and laptops without having to download and install apps or plug-ins.
The company also announced today that it has incorporated a three-dimensional camera into the latest release of V-PAS (vision pack and audit system), Numina's automated carton content and case-picking inspection system. The three-dimensional imaging capability adds carton depth perception to the V-PAS system. It looks inside the carton and measures the actual carton fill rate, including contents and void fill, comparing it to the target percentage that is based on the desired carton size. Underutilized cartons are diverted to an inspection repack lane.
