Kardex Remstar introduces heavy-duty shuttle

By DC Velocity Staff

Kardex Remstar, a manufacturer of automated storage and retrieval systems, introduced a new heavy-duty vertical lift module to its product line at Modex today. The Shuttle XP 1000 will handle up to 1,000 kilograms, or 2,205 pounds, per tray.

The new shuttle is aimed at companies that handle heavy goods, including those in the oil and gas industries. The product joins the company's vertical lift module line, which also includes the 250, 500, and 700 models. (The model number indicates the weight capacity of the trays in kilograms.)

The Shuttle XP 1000 ranges from 100.4 inches to 789.4 inches in height, 93 to 171 inches in depth, and 62.2 to 172.4 inches in width. The new trays use casters rather than plastic sliding shoes to move in and out of the access area. Kardex Remstar says the modules provide high-density storage, allow fast access to inventory, and offer large storage capacity in a small footprint.

The company also announced that it has expanded its Megamat Vertical Carousel line, adding the Megamat RS 650 and RS 180 in addition to its redesigned RS 350 product. The heavy-duty Megamat RS 650 has a load capacity of 1,433 pounds per carrier and 41,887 pounds maximum per unit; the light-duty RS 180 has a capacity of 396 pounds per carrier and 13,260 pounds per unit.
