RapidPick solution allows operators to pick to multiple order positions

By DC Velocity Staff

Dematic announced that it has extended the functionality of its RapidPick System, a goods-to-person order fulfillment system for piece-pick applications. The RapidPick System brings containers of stock-keeping units (SKUs) from a staging or storage area, such as the Dematic Multishuttle, to a workstation, where an operator can then pick items from the staging or storage container into an order container.

The enhanced system now allows the operator to "put" items into multiple order containers at once. The initial release of RapidPick only offered a "1:1 pick station" with one donor or staging SKU position and one order fulfillment position. The new RapidPick station now features the option of picking and putting items into multiple order positions. Typical configurations include 1:6, 1:12, and 1:24.

Additionally The RapidPick System's functionality can now handle cartons in addition to totes.
