Digital road freight platform Ontruck expands market share in Spain
Madrid-based company acquires freight forwarding platform Briver.
Digital road freight platform Ontruck today said it has acquired the freight forwarding platform Briver in a move that is forecast to increase Ontruck's fleet capacity by 20%.
Madrid-based Ontruck acquired Terrasa, Catalonia-based Briver from Wtransnet, a freight and vehicle exchange in the Iberia region of Spain. Following the deal, both brands will continue to run independently, under common leadership, with no operational changes for clients of either brand, Ontruck said.

The move follows digital freight matching (DFM) pioneer Uber Freight's expansion from the U.S. into the Netherlands and Germany in July.
Briver uses technology to connect shippers and carriers seamlessly by offering real-time visibility to make road freight more efficient by significantly reducing the number of empty kilometers traveled by carriers on roads. It was founded in in June, 2018, by Wtransnet to complement its service providing an exchange platform that connects more than 11,000 transportation companies across 33 countries.
"Cataluña is a key market for road freight at a European level, representing almost 10% of the road transportation business in Spain," Iñigo Juantegui, CEO and co-founder of Ontruck, said in a release. "We are excited to continue expanding our market leadership with Briver and to work together to deliver the best service across Cataluña. We value Briver's shared commitment to excellence and vision of bringing technology and transparency to the industry."
