UPS hosts "Brown Friday" hiring blitz nationwide Nov. 1
Company expects to sign-up nearly 50,000 seasonal employees this Friday in preparation for the annual holiday shipping rush.
Transportation and logistics giant UPS Inc. will host a nationwide hiring blitz tomorrow, November 1, to add seasonal help for the upcoming holiday shipping rush, the company said this week.
The Atlanta-based company said it expects to hire nearly 50,000 seasonal employees during the blitz, known as "UPS Brown Friday," on its way to hiring 100,000 seasonal workers for this year's peak shipping season. The blitz includes more than 185 hiring fairs across the country, and many workers will be hired on the spot, the company said. UPS is looking to fill full- and part-time seasonal positions—primarily package handlers, drivers, and driver-helpers. Seasonal jobs can lead to permanent employment, the company also said.
"Many of those who come to one of our job fairs this Friday could be signed up for a seasonal role by Monday, and many of our senior execs, including me, began their careers here with a seasonal job," according to Danelle McCusker, the company's vice president of human resources.
