Multi-modal transportation solutions provider Hub Group has launched technology enhancements that improve end-to-end visibility into shipments, the company said this month.
Hub Group is combining its GPS-enabled fleet with artificial intelligence and machine learning technology to improve visibility into shipments and provide more accurate arrival time data, the company said. IoT-enabled (Internet of Things) sensors inside containers and trucks relay constant updates, from driver assignment to ramp arrival and offload status to dynamic, shipment-level ETAs (estimated time of arrival), to provide customers with up-to-the-second data anytime, anywhere, the company said. Hub Group delivers the data to customers via an application programming interface (API), electronic data interchange (EDI), or through its customer platform, Hub Connect, the company also said.
"As the supply chain grows increasingly complex, our customers need accuracy and visibility at every step," David Yeager, Hub Group CEO, said in a statement announcing the tech enhancements. "We're combining our nearly 50 years of supply chain solutions experience with emerging technology to raise the stakes on what a sophisticated supply chain should look like, delivering the real-time, trusted ETA data essential for our customers' success."
