Freight forwarding and logistics giant Kuehne + Nagel International AG has partnered with an airport maintenance provider to expand its array of air logistics services, the companies said today.
Schindellegi, Switzerland-based Kuehne + Nagel will cooperate with FEAM Maintenance, a Miami Springs, Fla.-based provider of MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) that offers aircraft maintenance services to domestic and international air carriers flying both transport passenger and cargo category aircraft.
Under the agreement, FEAM, through its wide network of line maintenance stations and its licensed FAA 145 certified workforce, will complement the logistics services of Kuehne + Nagel by arranging deliveries and pick-ups in airport restricted areas also known as "airside."
In addition, FEAM and Kuehne + Nagel will present value-added logistics services such as loading and off-loading supervision and engine stand activation / de-activation. The partnership will provide access to restricted areas at over 20 airports in the U.S. and will link airside delivery solutions of critical parts with maintenance staff, the companies said.
"With this partnership, we are able to equip our airline and aerospace customers around the world with seamless and certified services deep into the airport environment" Bob Mihok, president of Kuehne + Nagel North America, said in a release.
Kuehne + Nagel sees aerospace as a key market, using its "Supply the Sky" portfolio of services to offer an integrated range of logistics services to meet the challenging demands of the industry in terms of product variety and size dimensions, the company said.
