SDI CEO Krish Nathan opened the SELF19 logistics conference this morning in Las Vegas mentioning that it is a good time to be in the supply chain industry. SELF19, the SDI Executive Logistics Forum, brings together supply chain professionals to hear about new technologies and applications for distribution center design. Many of the those in attendance at the 2-day conference are SDI customers.
Nathan cited the record Cyber Monday sales of $7.9 billion as evidence of the growth of e-commerce and the resulting effects on network and distribution center designs. He shared several technologies that SDI offers to equip customers in addressing the needs for speed, accuracy, and growth. Unit sortation, such as the SDI Sortrak bomb-bay-style sorter, can be deployed for fast and accurate sorting of orders for retail and e-commerce. The company's Joey pouch sorter is also a flexible solution for e-commerce and retail replenishment. He also said that SDI is investing in the development of distribution facility software, including a warehouse management system and a warehouse execution system.
A number of SDI customers are among the slate of speakers at this year's SELF19 conference. JCPenney, Stage Stores, Carters, and Office Depot are retailers sharing their recent successful deployments of technology solutions in new and existing facilities.
