James J. Radous III, president of UniCarriers Americas, welcomed his company's dealers and suppliers today to the first-ever Forklift Industry Summit held in Miami. While the UniCarriers name has only been around since 2015 for this manufacturer and supplier of forklifts, the company history dates back more than 100 years.
Radous said that attendees at the summit include representatives from 82 dealerships spanning 18 different countries as well as 55 suppliers. He told those gathered that UniCarriers has experienced growth of 80 percent over the past seven years and is the Number Six forklift brand in the market.
He added that some 80 percent of the company's future investment is tied to this steady growth, including investments in infrastructure at its production facilities in Marengo, Ill. and the creation of an Americas Design Center that will design and produce vehicles at the Illinois plant for the North American market. Some of the investments, he said, will include advanced robots, which will free human workers for other needed tasks.
The meeting with dealers and suppliers runs through tomorrow and includes breakout sessions and discussion groups surrounding a number of issued related to the supply chain industry and the forklift market in particular.
