Data capture and supply chain analytics provider Barcoding Inc. said Thursday it has acquired mobile data collection specialist Danforth Systems LLC in a bid to increase its presence in the southwest U.S. and expand its capabilities in radio frequency identification (RFID).
Baltimore-based Barcoding said the deal provides it with the resources and geographic diversity to offer enterprise-level system integration and support, with locations in Baltimore, Chicago, Houston and Lynwood, Wash., Barcoding President Shane Snyder said in a statement.
Danforth Systems is a Houston-based provider of mobile solutions for data collection for sectors including government agencies, healthcare providers, and companies throughout the retail, transportation, logistics, and manufacturing industries. Danforth sells handheld barcode scanner and RFID inventory tracking solutions, including customized mobile apps, as well as consulting services.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. However, in an email, Snyder said that Danforth Systems President Dan Tarpey will continue in his leadership role after the deal closes, joining the Barcoding staff for the foreseeable future.
The combined companies will create a team with a range of expertise in barcoding, scanner, and RFID technology, mobile data capture systems, and operations management, the company said. Together, those services will allow customers to improve their efficiency, accuracy, and connectivity, Barcoding said in a statement.
Barcoding has been expanding the range of services it provides in recent months, and said in June that it had partnered with handheld products vendor Samsung Electronics America Inc. in a move to provide consumer-grade tablets, smartphones, and accessories to its supply chain customers.
