Transport and logistics provider XPO Logistics Inc. said today it will acquire 770 tractors for its less-than-truckload (LTL) fleet at a cost of about $90 million.
The units will enter the fleet throughout the balance of the year, the Greenwich, Conn.-based company said. Some of the tractors will replace an undetermined number of older units, XPO said. Currently, the company operates about 8,000 tractors across North America.
The new tractors will have 15-liter engines and 12-speed transmissions, replacing models with 13-liter engines, the company said.
