E2open acquires Zyme in move to sharpen supply chain visibility platform

Deal is third acquisition in two years as E2open jockeys for position in enterprise analytics software.

By DC Velocity Staff

Supply chain planning software vendor E2open Inc. has continued its spending and acquisition spree, saying Monday it had agreed to buy Zyme, a provider of a channel data management (CDM) platform that improves visibility between trading partners.

Austin, Texas-based E2open said that combining the two firms would create the market's largest operating network for manufacturing, supply chain, and sales operations. To reach that goal, E2open said it plans to merge its artificial intelligence (AI)-based algorithms with Zyme's continuous flow of data on sales, rebates, and marketing promotions.

Zyme, which is also based in Austin, says its cloud-based platform provides deep visibility into indirect sales channels for users such as global companies that sell their products through distributors, resellers, retailers, and e-tailers.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but E2open said the acquisition was subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the coming weeks.

E2open has positioned itself in the last two years to challenge major providers of predictive analytics and control tower products. Earlier this year, E2open said it had merged with business process software provider Steelwedge Software Inc. in an effort to build a platform that combines planning with execution. And in 2016, E2open acquired Terra Technology, a provider of demand-forecasting tools.
