Fleet management and supply chain solutions provider Ryder System Inc. is reminding its 34,000 global employees to follow six road safety tips to reduce accidents and injuries.
Ryder's "Drive Safety Home" project is timed to support the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, an annual international campaign observed each year on April 28 that promotes safe and healthy workplaces.
The effort also supports Together for Safer Roads (TSR), a coalition of private sector members that promotes and raises awareness of safe driving practices. TSR was founded by AB InBev, AIG, and AT&T, and includes Ryder as well as Abertis, Ericsson, Facebook, GM, IBM, iHeartMedia, Octo Telematics, PepsiCo, Republic Services, UPS, and Walmart.
Coalition members this week are working to improve road safety and reduce deaths and injuries from road traffic crashes by encouraging employees to follow six basic practices:
"Today and every day we reinforce our longstanding commitment to safety by asking our people to make safety a personal responsibility, whether they are commuting to and from work, or driving professionally to support our customers' businesses," Ryder Chairman and CEO Robert Sanchez said in a release.
