UPS Inc. said today that, effective next Monday, it will add 41,000 global postal codes to its "Worldwide Express" service, where packages are delivered within one to three days to 65 countries. This marks the largest one-time expansion of the service since it was launched in 2007, Atlanta-based UPS said.
Most of the new postal codes will be in the Asia-Pacific region, UPS said. By adding the codes, UPS will be able to give customers access to earlier guaranteed delivery times, whereas before they only had guarantees of end-of-day deliveries, UPS said. The service offers guaranteed deliveries the next possible business day by 10: 30, noon, or 2 p.m. Customs-clearance services are integrated into the deliveries.
The service is available in countries that comprise 91 percent of global gross domestic product, UPS said.
