Datalogic S.p.A., the Bologna, Italy-based provider of automatic identification solutions, including bar-code readers, mobile computers, and RFID and vision systems, said today it has integrated its Datalogic Automation, Accu-Sort Systems, and PPT Vision units into a single organization.
Gian Paolo Fedrigo, CEO of Datalogic Automation, will lead the merged group, Datalogic said.
The move follows Datalogic's acquisitions in late 2011 of PPT Vision and Accu-Sort Systems, which the company said has doubled its presence in the industrial automation market. According to the parent company, the Accu-Sort acquisition gave it a 31-percent share of the industrial bar-code scanner market.
The consolidation brings together three separate but complementary business lines. Datalogic Automation offers solutions for traceability, inspection and detection in manufacturing and logistics processes, and manufacturing and automatic warehousing applications. Accu-Sort focuses on the design, production, integration, and maintenance of automatic identification and material handling solutions. PPT Vision serves the machine vision market.
The new organization will operate under the name of Datalogic Automation but will retain the Accu-Sort and PPT Vision brands in certain markets. The combined, expanded sales group is charged with increasing business in the factory automation market in North America, transportation and logistics in Europe, and both of those markets in Asia. Datalogic also plans to expand its presence in the industrial automation sector, the company said in a press release.
Datalogic Group employs more than 2,600 people in 30 countries across Europe, the Americas, and the Asia Pacific region. In 2011 the company reported revenues of 425.5 million euros (approximately $539 million).
