Plenty of students aspire to a career in medicine or law. But few, if any, college career counseling centers report a glut of would-be logisticians. The folks at the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) aim to change that.
To capture the attention of a student audience and to encourage them to choose a career in supply chain manage ment, the council has released a brand-new DVD. Called "What in the World Is the Global Supply Chain?," the 40 minute presentation focuses on what the council calls "the broad and diverse career options that exist in the profession look to the sun today."
"The global supply chain has become a part of everyone's life, whether they know it or not," says John Caltagirone, CSCMP's DVD Committee chair and vice president and global practice leader, supply chain strategy at the Revere Group. "If a company buys material, and makes, moves, or stores a product, it's involved in supply chain management. Because of the critical importance of the supply chain on our economy—and on our daily lives—we wanted to educate people about what the supply chain is, as well as present students with exciting career options that they may not have previously considered."
The DVD costs $49.95 U.S. for CSCMP members and non-members alike. Copies can be ordered at the CSCMP online bookstore at www.cscmp.org.
